I was in Co. A from the beginning when it was formed in Toccoa, Georgia until the war in Europe ended.
Although I received a Purple Heart for wounds received in Italy I never was evacuated or missed a day of our combat.
I jumped in Southern France and went thru the Bulge and into Germany. My position with A Co. was rifleman, runner and radio operator for Company Headquarters. During the war A Co. had four different commanders. Capt.Joe Broudy was the third one. My favorite was Major Don Frasier who I jumped with into Southern France.
When the war ended in Europe I transferred to the 82nd Airborne Division to remain in Berlin, Germany for the occupation.
After the war I returned home to California, got married, became a civil engineer & I raised three children, worked 40 years surveying, designing & constructing roads & bridges, retired in 1987
